Long Day for Richard Mourdock

By: Web producer
Updated: May 8, 2012
Richard Mourdock started his day at 6:00 Tuesday morning as he and his wife went to cast their ballots at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center.
When he arrived, a small, but vocal group greeted the Treasurer.
The former Vanderburgh County Commissioner has deep ties in the Evansville area and has a home in Darmstadt.
He then went to visit polling places outside Indianapolis before he waited for results in the Circle City.
Along the way, supporters from local, grassroots organizations went to shake hands with the anti-establishment candidate.
Although the race between Murdock and Lugar appeared dirty at times, it's all behind the State Treasurer now.
Murdock said, "People who come up to you at the polls and say they're voting for you is always very humbling, especially when people say things like I didn't vote against Mr. Lugar, I voted for you. That's always gratifying."
