This is the first statewide recall election in the history of Wisconsin. Republican Governor Scott Walker is just the third governor to face a recall in U.S. history.
Anger over Walker's budget policies generated the recall. Last summer Walker signed Act 10, a law that stripped most public employees of their right to collective bargaining.
The legislation has divided the state and sparked recalls of state senators in 2011 and again this year.
Four Democrats are vying for the chance to challenge Walker in the June 5 recall election. The Democrats face off in a primary on May 8.
This week on WFRV-TV's "Your Local Election Headquarters with Tom Zalaski" political scientist Dr. Tim Dale and Green Bay Press Gazette Community News Editor Amy Bailey discussed the issues surrounding the recall.
Much of the conversation focused on the two front runners, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk.
