Incumbent Holden Loses Re-Election Bid in Democratic Primary

St. Clair, Schuylkill County  Democratic Incumbent U.S. Congressman Tim Holden said it was an honor and a privilege to serve in Congress.

 The 10 term politician lost his re-election in bid in the 17th District to political newcomer Attorney Matt Cartwright.

Speaking before supporters in St.Clair, Holden acknowledged the race was tough.

  He wished Matt   Cartwright well and then asked voters to support Cartwright in November.

  Holden represented the 17th District for 20 years.

 The 17th Congressional District was recently changed it  now stretches from Scranton to Wilkes-Barre to Schuylkill County to Easton.
