JOPLIN, MO-- Your favorite beverage could cost more in the future.

The Missouri Secretary of State has approved an initiative petition to ask voters about a potential beverage tax. If enough registered voters sign on the dotted line, the November ballot would ask that Missouri cities and counties be given the authority to ask voters for a beverage tax. The issue restricts plain water and fruit juice.

Supporters must turn in petitions for the issue by May 7th.
