Two 19 year old Peorians were formally charged Thursday with attempting to rob a golfer at gunpoint at Newman Golf Course Wednesday. Tyler Williams and Nicholas Williams are each charged with attempted armed robbery and bond was set at 175 thousand dollars. Police claim the pair attempted to rob the victim on the 15th fairway. As the golfer fled, one shot was fired but prosecutors now believe the shot was fired accidentally at the ground rather than at the golfer. No one was hurt. Both Tyler and Nicholas Williams were arrested minutes later on Forrest Hill and police say they recovered a handgun. Court records indicate Nicholas Williams is on parole after serving time on a weapons charge and he is facing trial on a drug charge filed in April.
