High School Grads Compete With Adults for Jobs

WMBD/WYZZ TV – PEORIA – Peoria high school seniors will wake up Thursday morning adults. Wednesday night was graduation for District 150. Employment is on the minds of many teens now, whether they're looking to help pay for college, or begin their career.
But local employment experts tell us many high school and college graduates are competing with out-of-work skilled adults, looking for a job even if they're over-qualified. Workers at manpower say an alternative could be networking... To seek activities, volunteer positions and internships, even if it means going un-paid. It could lead to a permanent job down the line...
High school and college students might also be competing for similar jobs this summer, but experts tell us, because of the job outlook, more college graduates are seeking higher education than this time last year.
