(Pontiac) -- Understaffed prisons will soon be a thing of the past in Livingston County.
Both the Pontiac and Dwight Correctional Centers are in the process of hiring new employees.
Former Pontiac Mayor Scott McCoy passed along the news before he officially stepped down from office.
McCoy says this will solve the under-staffing problem at the Pontiac prison.
Last year, former Governor Blagojevich announced plans to shutter the Pontiac prison, but current Governor Pat Quinn decided to leave it open.
McCoy says the news of the new hires is good news, but he didnt say how many jobs will be added at the prison.
