Peoria Woman Charged in Carjacking-Shooting

A Peoria woman was formally charged Friday in connection with a carjacking and a shootout on the citys south side Wednesday night. 25 year old Shalimar Berry is facing attempted murder, aggravated battery, possession of a weapon and unlawful use of a weapon charges. Police say they responded to a report of a carjacking on Saratoga. Police say when they arrived, Berry was found in the street firing a gun at one of the two carjacking victims. Police fired back at Berry but she was not hit. She was tased and arrested. However, police say, one of the carjacking victims Berry was firing at was hit in the knee. Berry is being held on a half million dollar bond pending grand jury action.
