National Healthcare Decision Day

WMBD/WYZZ - Those in the health care
field are making sure you have
a plan. April 16th is "National Healthcare
Decisions Day." It's a yearly
reminder to make sure your loved ones know the medical care you want in case
you couldn't speak for your self. Without
your wishes known, decisions about your health care are made by the state.
“If you do not have an advanced
directive in Illinois, (power of attorney, living will) and you become
incapacitated, there is no one to make decisions for you, “ says Mark Novak
with Methodist Medical Center. “Then, we have to seek the state to seek
guardianship for you. Then someone from
the state is making decisions for you."
