A bill to allow full time care givers, who take care of disabled spouses, to collect medicaid payments, was approved Thursday by the Illinois Senate and sent to the Illinois House for action. The bill is sponsored by Peoria Senator Dave Koehler and co sponsored by Peoria Senator Dale Risinger. Koehler says he got the idea after talking to two local women who are taking care of disabled husbands full time. This is the second time Koehler has attempted to move the bill through the Illinois General Assembly as the first measure stalled in the Illinois House due to concerns about the cost.
