Three Peoria police officers were indicted Tuesday by the Peoria County Grand Jury in connection with the alleged beating of a Peoria man last May. 29 year old Andrew Smith and 39 year old Gerald Suelter are each facing a seven count indictment, charged with four counts of official misconduct, and one count each of aggravated battery, battery and mob action. A third officer was named Tuesday. 31 year old Jeremy Leyman, was charged with obstructing justice and official misconduct. The charges stem from a May third police pursuit and subsequent arrest of 34 year old Bryce Scott at Abington and Perry. Scotts attorney says Scott was beaten, tased and doused with pepper spray after a high speed chase. Scott has filed a civil lawsuit against the city of Peoria and six police officers.
