WMBD/WYZZ TV - CHICAGO - February marks another bad month for Illinois workers, as job losses reach historic levels.More than 37,000 jobs were lost in February, the second largest over-the-month decrease on records which date back to 1990. And compared to February of last year, Illinois employers have reduced payrolls by 206,300. The state's unemployment rate reached 8.6%... the highest level since December of 1991.
Most of the cuts came in the manufacturing, construction, and professional and business services industries. But there is a bit of a silver lining, the education and health services industry has managed to add nearly 13,000 jobs over the last year.
