WMBD/WYZZ - PEORIA -- Central Illinois gave a warm welcome to about 150 members of the Illinois Army National Guard Saturday.

The soldiers arrived Saturday morning to Peoria international Airport after serving a year with Task Force Blackhorse in Kosovo. During its deployment, the task force led security and stability efforts in the war-torn region.

They also did a little charity work, adopting five schools and two homeless shelters.  Soldiers and their families say it's a long awaited homecoming.

You think about them all the time because you're not with them.  You think about them a lot,” Sgt. Eric Reay, said. The members of the 106th aviation regiment are from companies in Peoria, Decatur, and Chicago.
