R&R In a New RV

WMBD/WYZZ TV – PEORIA – The Central Illinois Recreational Show is rolling into Peoria this weekend...  Last year, organizers say they saw a record-breaking crowd.  But with the economy trailing, will this year's show be enough to pull in patrons?

Terry Flairty and his wife are looking for some R&R in a new RV.  "We’re looking for a bigger one."  Browsers at last years show, the Flairty's have noticed a big difference this time around.  "It seems to me like they are a little cheaper."  Terry's right -- the RV business is hurting like any other.

"They’re still motor homes on the road; they're just not going to Wyoming or California.  They're going to local campgrounds," says even Director Dennis Johnston.

You won't see many tricked out motor homes at this years show -- they simply aren't selling as well as they have in the past... Taking their place are trailers.  One until sells for close to 15 thousand bucks.  Compare that to a motor home -- selling for as much as a quarter of a million dollars.  But for those looking for a bargain are in luck.  11 dealers from 2 states are represented, and many are offering a good deal.

Organizers insist RV's provide an inexpensive vacation for families... And can even reduce stress... But is it worth the cost?  You can judge for yourself.  The Central Illinois Recreational Show continues Saturday and Sunday at the Peoria Civic Center.
