Sheley Requests Change of Venue

WMBD/WYZZ – PEORIA - The Sterling man accused of a murder spree across two states wants his trial moved out of Knox County. 29 year old Nicholas Sheley is accused of murdering eight people including a 65 year old Galesburg man last year. Sheley's attorney told the judge Tuesday he intends to file a change of venue motion within the next few weeks, citing extensive media coverage of the case. The defense also plans to challenge the constitutionality of the death penalty. Those issues will be heard in late May. Sheley's trial is now tentatively set for May of next year. Sheley remains locked up in Galesburg under a $10 million bond.
