WMBD/WYZZ TV - PEORIA - When it comes to medical matters of the heart, time is everything. An
award winning program at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center is helping heart
patients across central Illinois, and giving them better opportunities at a
healthy life after the attack.Medical experts are cutting down the time it takes for patients to walk through the door and receive heart saving surgery. It's a hospital-wide protocol they dubbed 7-7-7... And it requires full cooperation and communication between the ER, the cardiac department and area EMT’s.
A few years ago, the 777 program took flight through collaboration
with the Saint Francis Life Flight program. Heart experts are now helping
patients at 15 partner hospitals across central Illinois.
