WMBD/WYZZ TV – PEORIA -- A flight meant to save lives has
actually cost some. Over the past eleven months, 35 people were killed in
medical helicopter accidents. Today the National Transportation Safety Board
started hearings on that issue. The NTSB
is now calling for improved safety regulations. We talked with OSF's Life Flight
Safety Director to find out just how their safety standards hold up. Directors
say they've never had an accident. OSF's Safety Director says their pilots have
the strictest safety standards in the state. They handle 1,400 flights a year.
