WMBD/WYZZ— Normal— Town of Normal leaders are discussing implementing a community-wide sustainability plan that would encourage you to make some “green” changes. Town planner Mercy Davison says it is hard to say at this point what types of environmental-friendly improvements people will be asked to make, whether it is recycling more or using solar panels. In a couple of weeks, the town will start talking about what will make up the community-wide sustainability plan. Davison says the green transformation will also create more jobs.
"I really do think there's a job creation component to the whole thing because if people are going to be switching to new technologies we'll need technicians to be installing them [and] maintaining them," Davison said.
Right now, Normal is in the process of turning an Underwood Park home it purchased last summer into an energy-efficient model. This way people can visit the house to get ideas for their own homes.
