WMBD/WYZZ— Pontiac— A state senator out of Pontiac says he hopes Governor Blagojevich’s dismissal means good news for Pontiac’s prison. Senator Dan Rutherford says the prison is still slated to close. He says Governor Pat Quinn is willing to take a closer look at both sides of the argument to close Pontiac Correctional Center and go from there. Rutherford says it is still too early to tell whether the prison will stay open. Right now, he says they are more worried about two other issues: looking at government ethics and the state budget. Senator Rutherford will be holding a press conference Monday afternoon to outline a plan for saving Pontiac’s prison.
