WMBD/WYZZ
TV – PEORIA -- You're
more than likely heard about it, but until now, you haven't been able to see
it. The Africa expansion at Peoria's Zoo has been kept from the public eye
until now. WMBD got a behind the scenes sneak peak. It took six years of
planning to complete 8 exhibits. Giraffes and zebras will roam in view of their
natural predator, the lion. At the top of the viewing deck people will actually
get to feed the giraffes. The lions den, just across the way will have large
rocks to lounge on, they'll even be heated for those cooler months. The exhibit
will be open the first week of June. The zoo still needs to raise 5 million
dollars to complete the project so zoo administrators are asking people to drop
off donations.
