Car Problems And The Cold Weather

WMBD/WYZZ - The extremely cold weather can be tough on anyone, but just imagine what it can do to your car.
Local mechanics usually see a few extra cars come in that need maintenance when the temperature drops, but thanks to today’s better built cars, the problems are not as many as they were years ago.
“Its not as bad as it used to be in the old days, but you get a spike in failed starters, batteries, and no starts,” says Tom Spencer, manager of Foster’s Service, Inc. in West Peoria.
Spencer also says that broken windshield wipers and motors are a big problem with the colder weather. Regular tune-ups should help avoid many problems related to the freezing temperatures.
Keeping your car maintained can also save you money if you don’t need to take it in for repairs.
