WASHINGTON
- Grammy award winning artists will lift the spirit of Easter in song Friday
night.
Popular
local choir GospelFest Ministries is performing at Five Points Washington. The
75 member choir is performing
"Saviour." It covers the biblical story of creation to resurrection
through song.
Three nationally
acclaimed soloists, including a Grammy award winning artist, will sing with the
choir. The group usually performs during the Christmas holiday.
This is its first Easter
performance.
"They will come away
being encouraged, especially as we're coming up on the Easter season just
thinking about Christ's death on the cross and resurrection. It's just a great
way to get into that mind frame as we're coming up on the Easter season," said
director Shawn Degenhart.
Showtimes are Friday and
Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $23 at the door.
Meanwhile
at the Peoria Civic Center, thousands of students are turning out for the 2013
Presence Tour. The high-energy, Christian centered weekend is open to preteens
and includes concerts, speakers and other activities.
The two day
event starts Friday at 6 p.m., and it picks up again Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Tickets
are $69 at the door.
