Dream Center Giving Away Free Prom Dresses

By: Eugene Daniel
Updated: March 21, 2013

PEORIA - Shopping for a prom dress can be expensive, but that does not have to stop someone from going to the dance.

This weekend, Dream Center Peoria is giving away prom dresses and accessories to high school girls. Girls can stop by from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday or 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Volunteers will help find that perfect dress. Girls can also leave with shoes, handbags, jewelry and a free hair appointment.

The Dream Center says every girl deserves to be pampered like a princess.

"It's giving girls the opportunity to have that dignity in their life, saying I can participate in this event,"
said Matt Larson of Dream Center.  "It's a one-time thing for a lot of these girls and they get to look back on it.  And you want it to be a positive, like that time was awesome."

Girls must bring a high school I.D. The Dream Center is still in need of plus size dresses, dress bags and volunteers.
