March Madness Slam Dunk for Riverfront Museum

By: Eugene Daniel
Updated: March 19, 2013

PEORIA - The Peoria Riverfront Museum got a big attendance boost from this year's high school basketball tournament.

Museum president Jim Richerson says hundreds more people visited the attraction than most other weekends. The crowds also meant more ticket sales for the museum's night time movie showings.

Richerson hopes next year will be even better, since this was the first year the museum has been open during March Madness.

"We had a presence at the civic center. We had advertising in the civic center. But I think next year, now people that will come back know, hey this is here, and it's really cool," said Richerson.

The museum plans to advertise differently and earlier next year, in order to attract more people before the tournament begins.
