PEKIN - Four people are injured after an explosion at the Enviro-Safe refrigerant bottling plant in downtown Pekin.
The explosion happened around 3 p.m. Tuesday, and emergency crews remain on the scene. Police and firefighters are inspecting the building and trying to figure out what caused the explosion.
The top corner of the building appears to be blown off, and brick and debris remains scattered on the ground.
Don Jolly, a Pekin police spokesperson, said two of the four people are seriously injured due to inhalation burns and were taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
According to authorities, the scene is secure and there are no signs of any further danger.
