WMBD/WYZZ-TV - NORMAL, Ill. -- When Illinois State didn't get a bid to the National Invitation Tournament Sunday night, it had to make a decision.
Play or think about next year.
Instead of playing in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) or the College Insider.com Tournament (CIT), the Redbirds opted to think about next year. ISU decided against playing in the postseason.
"Our guys had their minds focused on the NCAA thoughout the year and were hopeful for an NIT, even though it was a very slim chance," said head coach Dan Muller Monday. "It's just not the year for this program, this team to do it."
