Republican Louisiana Senator David Vitter vowed Monday to block President Obama's pick for Labor Secretary, citing several reasons, including a past run in with his state and the dropping of a controversial voter intimidation case involving the New Black Panther Party. Thomas Perez is Obama's pick but he's already being questioned about incomplete testimony he gave on the decision to drop charges against members of the New Black Panthers. The high profile case involved allegations of voter intimidation outside a Philadelphia polling place in 2008. A new report by the Justice Department found Perez's testimony didn't reflect the entire story regarding the involvement of political appointees in making the decision to drop the case but the report didn't find Perez intentionally misled the U S Commission on Civil Rights. Democrats are coming to Perez' defense.
