PEORIA - The luck of the Irish is turning downtown Peoria into its own version of the Emerald Isle.
Despite the cold, thousands filled the streets Sunday for the city's annual St. Patrick's Day parade.
Mary Reiter of Peoria said "Its my day. It's St. Patty's Day. It's my favorite holiday."
Andrew Custer added, "You try to stay warm, and you may have a couple whiskey shots. But it's kind of cold out here today, and it ain't working. Maybe I need to have a couple more."
The St. Patrick's Day Parade is one of the city's largest yearly parades.
