Classrooms First Bill Ready for Final House Vote

SPRINGFIELD- A bill to make it easier for school districts to voluntarily consolidate, made it through its second reading Friday and is ready for a final vote in the Illinois House. The bill, which has the backing of the Lt. Governor, and sponsored by Peoria State Representative Jehan Gordon Booth, could reduce duplicative spending and improve educational offerings , allowing non continuous school districts to consolidate voluntarily, small schools could dissolve voluntarily without referenda and high school districts to tie consolidation dates to capital funding.
