PEORIA - A squad car
driven by a Peoria police officer is significantly damaged after being hit by a
wrong-way driver.
The accident happened Wednesday
night, near the police station at the intersection of Adams and Walnut Street.
A man driving the wrong
way on Walnut entered the intersection and collided with the officer. The
driver told police he drove the wrong way because traffic was being diverted in
the area due to construction. Both cars had to be towed. No one was injured.
The wrong-way driver was ticketed.
