Bradley Students Prepare for Alternate Spring Break

PEORIA - Many students look forward to their spring break for some time off, but 40 students from Bradley University aren't taking a break.

They're spending the week volunteering in places across the country, making stops in St. Louis, Memphis, Mississippi and Texas.

Two of those students shared their reasons for taking an alternate spring break.

Sam Babb said, "It really gives students an opportunity to make that example from college students that we're not all just partying over spring break, we actually do care and we want to make a difference."

Hayley Dryoel said, "Why go home and sit around or why go to a beach when I could go help people that are less fortunate because I just love volunteering."

The students are paying for the trip out of their own pockets. It's through a group on campus called "Students Today, Leaders Forever."
