District 87 Slashes Jobs To Reduce Budget

Our news partner WJBC Radio says Bloomington's District 87 school board chopped 33 staff jobs Wednesday night as part of the annual reduction in force and the cuts may not be over. While those cuts are common each year, this list is slightly larger this year because of the state's money problems and the chance those teachers are rehired is less likely because of the state budget constraints. The cuts include nine full time probationary teachers and 11 part time teachers. The superintendent says the possible pension shift to school districts isn't factored into the budget.
