PEORIA COUNTY - School boards
throughout Peoria County are discussing ways to raise revenue for local
schools.
District 150 said it's
looking for help from Peoria County voters.
The district wants to add
a one percent sales tax increase to next year's ballot. That new tax would
generate revenue for school facility improvements.
District 150 said it's a way to pay for construction and maintenance projects without increasing property taxes.
If a majority of Peoria County school boards approve the measure, it will be added to the ballot in March 2014.
