Peorian Charged in Drive By Shooting

A 31 year old Peorian, one of two men arrested Monday night following a drive by shooting witnessed by officers, was formally charged Wednesday. Jose Gaytan is charged with aggravated discharge, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and no valid FOID card. Bond was set Wednesday at $100,000. A second man, arrested with Gaytan was given a notice to appear but has yet to be formally charged. An officer on patrol heard shots fired and a low speed pursuit began. Officers say they found several spent casings and a handgun and a ski mask. Police say two homes were hit by gunfire in the 700 block of Hancock. No one was wounded.
