PEORIA - A Peoria man is dead after a car crash early Wednesday morning, just moments after he fled the scene of a traffic stop.
The Peoria County Coroner says 32 year old Christopher Williams died after the car he was driving crashed into a light pole at the intersection of Western and Howett on Peoria's South side.
A Peoria police officer found the car a little after 1:00 a.m.
Just minutes prior, a Peoria County Sheriff's Deputy tired to stop the car, but he kept driving.
The deputy stopped the pursuit.
