Hudson - A Hudson firefighter was killed Tuesday night in a multiple vehicle accident.

Authorities say around 9:45 p.m. an accident involving several cars prompted first responders to be dispatched to southbound I-39 near mile marker 6 in Hudson.

Around 10:45 p.m. a semi carrying a load of cars lost control and struck three first responder vehicles, injuring six members of the Hudson County Fire Department. They were transported to Advocate Bromenn Medical Center in Normal. The McLean County Coroner says a short time later, one of the firemen was pronounced dead.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
