East Peoria native Matt Hale will remain in federal prison for attempting to kill a federal judge in Chicago after the 7th U S Circuit Court of Appeals Tuesday rejected his appeal. The court upheld the white supremacist's 2004 conviction for soliciting the murder of Judge Joan Humphrey Lefkow.
She ruled against him in a trademark case involving his group's use of the name World Church of the Creator. A three judge panel unanimously rejected claims from Hale that his lawyers did a poor job of representing him. Hale is serving a 40 year sentence.
