A two alarm house fire, which brought five fire departments to the scene, was made worse by high winds.
The fire at 538 E. Locust in Canton brought firemen from Canton, Copperas Creek, Buckheart Fire Protection Districts, Cuba, and Farmington. Canton firemen say when they arrived heavy smoke was coming from the two story home. The owner was doing remodeling work in the kitchen when they heard a cracking sound and the fire had extended into an attic void space. The location of the fire along with high winds made it more difficult to fight, according to a news release. No word on the dollar amount of damage.
