Galesburg Boy Dies after being Attacked by Dog

GALESBURG- A local boy is dead after being attacked by a dog this weekend.
It happened in the 600 block of Whiting Avenue just after one pm Saturday.
Authorities say seven year old Ryan Maxwell had been visiting the house when the pit bull that lived there became violent.
Upon arrival authorities found the child still clenched in the canine's teeth.
It then turned on the officers, who shot and killed it.
Maxwell died about 45 minutes later.
An autopsy is scheduled Monday afternoon.
