The Illinois Senate voted Thursday to expand medicaid in the state as part of the overall changes
in health care, better known as Obamacare, according to the Illinois General Assembly website. The bill now heads to the Illinois House. Starting in 2014, when Obamacare kicks in fully, another half million Illinois uninsured residents would be eligible for coverage. The federal government will pay the entire cost of expanding Medicaid for the first three years.
