PEKIN- Recent house fires in Pekin have officials investigating arson.

First on February 16th, a house on Haylake Drive went up in flames. Then on February 23rd a house on Charlotte Street burned and has already been demolished.

The Pekin Fire Chief, Kurt Nelson said he doesn't think the two are linked, but fishy interviews and other evidence suggest the fires might not be accidental.

Nelson said especially the one on Charlotte Street.

"How long it actually took to put it out and then the specifics on how it actually burned, so we're kind of looking at that one a little more specifically and we did a little more detailed investigation into that," Nelson said.

Nelson said the department will continue to investigate for the next few weeks.
