PEORIA-- Richwoods High School Senior Joins Congressman For Civil Rights Pilgrimage.
Lydia Amissah is a senior at Richwoods High School in Peoria and is joining congressman Aaron Schock for the 13th Congressional Civil Rights Pilgrimage in Alabama this weekend.
She says she was chosen to because of her dedication to school organizations and community efforts.
Amissah is apart of the National Honor Society as well other student organizations at school.
Some consider her as a role model and a class leader.
"I'm honored, I'm excited and blessed" says Amissah, who is a first generation American citizen.
Her parents are originally from Ghana in West Africa.
She says getting the chance to see where African American history took place is the opportunity of a lifetime.
