BLOOMINGTON- She loves to run, play, and pal around with other pets.

One look at this English Bulldog Boxer mix and no one would ever know just two months before, her days were numbered.

"They said they were so happy she gained 12 pounds.  And I'm like, "Where?" asks Barb Tauscher.

Formerly known as Pandora, the pooch arrived at Wish Bone Canine Rescue weighing about 40 pounds.

A dog this size should be at least 80.

"I literally went online that night and filled out the application," said Tauscher.

Tauscher is the proud owner of this one and a half year old pooch.

She renamed her "Roxie"--saying she just had the right look.

"They're like your kids.  I don't have any kids and it's like a replacement kid."

Tauscher, who lost her pet Cinnimon last year, learned about this new pooch through a report aired on WMBD-31.

"It was like my dog was telling me I needed to do this.  Because it just clicked."

In a matter of minutes Tauscher contacted Wish Bone Canine Rescue and got the ball rolling.

From there, it took time to get her girl Roxie nursed back to health.
Now, having spent two weeks in this new home, Tauscher says their lives are content--and filled with cuddle time.

"She started purring the other night.  I started laughing, I went to work, and I'm like, 'You guys, my dog purrs!"'

A tragic story, turned into a happy ending for a woman and a dog that both needed a new companion.

"I loved her the first time I saw her face," said Tauscher.

Roxie arrived at Wish Bone Canine Rescue in January along with 15 other dogs.

The organization helps nurse them back to health and continues to get more in.

All are looking for loving homes.
