PEORIA - The police department is looking to change the logos on its squad cars.

The department plans to apply the revamped graphics on ten newly purchased vehicles. The new cars were already in the department's budget.

Police say the total cost to add the new design on ten cars should be a little more than $1,000. The police chief says the department planned changes the logo on the patrol fleet a few years ago, but the 2009 budget crisis made that difficult.

"We've been wanting to do it probably the last four years and now, looks like we'll be able to move ahead and start changing it," said Police Chief Steve Settingsgaard.

The chief says the plan is to convert all of the cars, but does not expect that to happen for several years.
