Sunday we're taking a look at a couple
of options for efficiently heating your home.
Heating and cooling suppliers said the
latest trend is Geothermal technology. Territory Manager Chris Smith said the
system can be pricey, but he said you can save almost 70 percent more a month
in bills.
He explains the system. "The unit
extracts the heat out of the ground in the winter time and summer time , we
take the heat out of the house and put it into the ground .The Geothermal is
just a heat exchanger, transfer energy back and forth."
He said another option that is more
inexpensive - good insulation. He said the ceiling is where most homes lose
their heat and good insulation can help with that.
More work homeowners look forward to doing as we wait for Spring - sprucing up the yard.
Local Landscaper Brett Aberle said the
first step to beautifying your yard is planning for it. He said when the
weather warms up, that's when you can prepare for the planting.
His biggest advice is to be weary of
Mother Nature and wait until the end of April or early May. He said, "A good
date they say by April 15 usually is your last freeze date but that's not
always the case as we saw last year but I mean that is a good rule of thumb to
start your planting after April 15."
He said the latest trend in
landscaping is outdoor living spaces. He said outdoor kitchens and bars are
popular requests in central Illinois.
