WMBD/WYZZ-TV - BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan lost its first conference game of the year Tuesday night at North Central.
Now the top-seeded Titans have dropped two in a row to CCIW foes and are out of the conference tournament. Augustana held IWU to 17 percent shooting in the second half and upset the tournament hosts, 53-47 in the CCIW semifinals Friday night at the Shirk Center.
IWU (21-5), the third-ranked team in this week's DIII national poll, will now hope to secure an at-large bid to the national tournament Monday. Augustana (19-7) will play North Central (23-3) for the CCIW championship Saturday night.
