WMBD/WYZZ-TV - NORMAL, Ill. -- It's a night for firsts for El Paso-Gridley High School.
The Lady Titans are playing in their first state tournament Friday night. And their opponent is the team that's first on everybody's Class 2A basketball poll, Champaign St. Thomas More.
"We're going to get after it, that's what you'll see," said El Paso-Gridley coach Kyle Bobbitt. "Girls will be diving, giving everything and that's all I can ask for."
El Paso-Gridley (29-1) will try and hand the Sabres (31-2) their first loss against a Class 2A all season.
"It's awesome being on this floor, it's a great environment," said Titans junior Codee Schlipf. "(Tonight) will be a great atmosphere to play in. We've gotta take it one at a time. But the big dream -- is a state championship."
Tip time is 8:15 at Redbird Arena.
