PEORIA- Morgan Stanley is bolstering its presence in downtown Peoria, and it's hoping other businesses will do the same.
The wealth management company cut the ribbon on its new downtown headquarters Thursday. It brought more than 22 employees from the former Knoxville location, which means it's office downtown houses more than 60 employees.
Office manager, Paul DiGiallonardo said he hopes to be in the downtown space for a long time, and that others will follow to make the area more of a business and financial district.
"We have some work to do though because we need some of those other things to happen in order for us to attract people to come downtown, but I think every company within Peoria and those that are outside Peoria that are looking maybe to relocate really should take a hard look at downtown because I think the future is very bright for it," DiGiallonardo said.
Peoria's mayor said he hopes the wealth management company makes for a strong economic foundation, and the start of a vibrant downtown.
