PEORIA - Nearly two million Illinoisans aren't sure where their next meal will come from. That statistic is prompting the Illinois State Bar Association to help feed those in need.

It's part of the Illinois State Bar Association's Lawyers Feeding Illinois fundraising campaign.

President John Thies said hunger is a societal problem that needs to be addressed. More than 90 teams of lawyers are competing to meet their goal of providing one million meals.

Thies said, "We were looking for a project that we could combine a great need with great resources so the Lawyers feeding Illinois project was born and as of this morning we've raised more than 400,000 meals."

Eight regional food banks will benefit from the campaign, including the Peoria Area Food Bank.

The campaign ends on March 1.
