PEORIA - Two Peoria organizations are taking action to stop women's violence. It's part of a global event called "One Billion Rising."

Across the world, activists are dancing as a way to educate people about the millions of women who suffer from abuse.

Here at home, Bradley University students and the Center for Prevention of Abuse are coordinating a dance-a-thon on campus to raise awareness.

Executive Director of the Center for Prevention of Abuse Martha Herm said, "We need to make sure everybody is on board with us to stop the violence. Whether it is toward women, mostly, but also toward men."

Dance-a-thons are planned in more than 200 other counties.
